FAQs

Below you’ll find answers to common questions about our hardware and monitoring capabilities.

The learning period for our MBVI systems is typically no longer than a few hours. Because the system uses a physics-based model, it begins generating insights as soon as the baselining process is complete.
While our expert analysts usually spend a couple of days interpreting and contextualising the data in detail, you’ll start seeing continuous live data from your machines almost immediately after the short baselining phase.
The baselining process is part of the initial setup and commissioning of the system. During this phase, the system captures a series of readings of the machine’s behaviour and uses these to establish a reference condition representing normal operation.
All subsequent data is then compared against this baseline, allowing the system to detect and track the development of faults and emerging phenomena within the motor and the wider system.
If your machine has an existing fault at the time of baselining, that condition will be captured as part of the baseline. However, faults resulting in functional failure rarely occur instantaneously – they typically develop and worsen over time. Our system continuously monitors the machine, so any ongoing deterioration from the baseline will be tracked and flagged.
Additionally, if you have multiple nominally identical machines, comparing their baselines can help identify anomalies. It’s highly unlikely the same fault would develop to the same extent at the same time across multiple machines, so differences in baseline profiles can immediately reveal potential issues.

Each motor requires one S200 sensor. The P100 device can be used across multiple motors, but it’s important to note that it does not provide continuous condition monitoring. Instead, you’ll only receive data when someone is actively using the P100 on a machine. This setup is ideal for on-demand checks rather than 24/7 monitoring.

Prices start from £3,250 for S200s and starting from £15,000 for P100s.

Our condition monitoring systems (like the P100 and S200) automatically diagnose equipment issues and recommend actions to address them. While the system provides valuable insights on its own, we understand that not all situations are black and white — sometimes expert interpretation is needed.

That’s why we offer ongoing diagnostic support in addition to customer training. This service includes:

  • In-depth analysis of your monitoring data by our experts

  • Clear diagnostic reports with actionable advice

  • Regular or ad-hoc support options

  • Follow-up conference calls to explain findings and correlate them with real-world events on site

  • Guidance and learning to help your team build their diagnostic expertise

Over time, this collaborative approach helps both your team and ours develop a deeper understanding of your equipment, improving maintenance outcomes and supporting smarter decision-making.

Long standing mystery in oil & gas solved with MBVI

An operator of an offshore oil production platform had a problem with an emergency firewater pump failing to start properly. The issue had persisted for nearly a year and a team of experts had failed to diagnose the cause. With our help, and use of the P100, we were able to identify a mechanical problem allowing for them to plan a way forward.

✔️ Diagnosed in days – Quickly identified a fault where experts had failed for nearly a year.
✔️ Minimal intrusion, maximum insight – Used only voltage and current data.
✔️ Portable & powerful – Utilised the compact P100 to assess complex offshore machinery.

Client Testimonial:
“We presented the findings to the asset leadership, and they agreed, with no further challenge. For me personally, the findings made perfect sense – it felt like all the various pieces of the puzzle suddenly fell into place.”
