Our client, an oil and gas facility, had experienced previous problems in some lube oil pumps that had led to unplanned shutdown and flaring. Subsequent pro-active testing using the Faraday Predictive P100 Equipment Health Assessor detected a bearing and rubbing problem (“transmission looseness”) on one of the other pumps. On closer examination, it was found that the bearing problem was associated with a seal failure, resulting in lubricant release and associated raised risk levels. The bearing and seal were replaced at low cost and the risk was avoided. A conservative estimate of the previous cost was in the range £300k – £500k. The finding reinforced staff and managers’ belief in the value of the Faraday Predictive system and the benefits of using it widely across their equipment fleet.
